About me

Illustrated portrait of Jenna Holloway

Conservation technician in a small college's special collections library, about five years in. Days spent on condition reports and edition history, which is most of why I notice printings, cover art variants, and physical component quality before almost anything else in a review.

I work as a conservation technician in the special collections library at a small college in Ithaca, which mostly means I spend my days handling books old enough that you're not supposed to hold them the normal way, checking for foxing and loose signatures and writing condition reports nobody outside the department will ever read. It has made me a little obsessive about editions. I notice which printing a cover art actually belongs to, whether a spine's cracked in the right place for how many times a book's actually been opened, and I clearly haven't been able to turn that off when I write about books I own myself, not the archive's. Games came later, through a work friend who dragged me to a game night I only meant to attend once. Now it's most Tuesdays.

Where I am: Ithaca, New York

Keep a paper reading log with the edition and printing noted next to every title. Started doing it for work. Never stopped doing it at home.

What's here

Book reviews, board game reviews, and personal essays. No schedule, no affiliate links, nothing sponsored. I write about a book or a game after I've actually finished it and have something to say, which is why the dates on here are irregular.
